Business Activity and Super-Processes

The Business Activity is seen through the prism of the 3 Super-Processes. The detailed view of the Business Activity provides insights on this specific perspective.

 

The "SSQ-Q" paradigm

The Business Activity is analyzed through a specific paradigm: the "SSQ-Q" paradigm (Setting-Specifying-Quantifying-Qualifying):

- Setting the activity in the economic environment

- Specifying what the activity is all about

- Quantifying the activity

- Qualifying the way the activity is played by the Organization.

 

 

 

"SSQ-Q" paradigm and the 4 Fields of BM

The SSQ-Q paradigm provides the necessary elements for BM analysis at a strategic level. Those elements correspond to each one of the 4 Fields of BM. Analyzing the Business Activity is about:

- Setting the SCOPE   (Positional Field)

- Specifying the MATTER   (Functional Field)

- Quantifying the RANGE   (Behavioral Field)

- Qualifying the MANNER   (Postural Field)

 

           

 

The Strategic Questions

In order to determine the different components of the SSQ-Q paradigm, the Bm2 considers the 7 basic questions related to the Business Activity: "Who?", "Where?", "What?", "Why?", "When?", "How much?" and "How?".

 

SCOPE: 

- Who?: Who is the organization with regard to its business activity?

The "Who?" question determines the Nature of the business activity

- Where?: Where does the organization perform its business activity in its economic environment?

The "Where?" question determines the Domains of the business activity

 

MATTER: 

- What?: What does the organization do in terms of business activity?

The "What?" question determines the Processes of the business activity

- Why?: Why does the organization perform its business activity?

The "Why?" question determines the Objectives of the business activity

 

RANGE: 

- When?: When does the organization perform its business activity?

The "When? question determines the Cycles of the business activity

- How much?: How much business activity does the organization perform?

The "How much?" question determines the Scales of the business activity

 

MANNER: 

- How?: How does the organization play its business activity?

The "How? question determines the Competitiveness, the Effectiveness and the Efficiency of the business activity
